I grew up watching this film and dreaming about this happening to me. What kid didn't think their video game skills could, one day, save the galaxy?! I never had the pleasure of seeing this film up on the big screen and I've been waiting and waiting for a chance to do that very thing! We're screening an action/comedy classic from 1986 that some of us have tried to forget but it'll always be there, preserved for all time. Howard is a duck from another planet, struggling to get home but also save Earth at the same time! BONUS music from Lea Thompson's and her in-film killer band Cherry Bomb! Oh yea, this is going to be a good one! This is another one of those films that I've never seen up on the big screen and The Paramount Room has that covered AND with a killer new sound system! With our friend Keeva Danielle, we're reviving the old BLOCKBUSTED VIDEO show from 2017 but with a twist! We're going to be riffing on this movie together. So talking, joking, singing, and pretty much everything else is, not only, allowed but ABSOLUTELY encouraged! Originally released in the United States as 'Silent Night, Evil Night', this Canadian slasher film went on to Box Office success and the typical horror controversy for the time. Later gathering a cult following it is often cited as an inspiration for John Carpenter's 'Halloween'. This film will be presented on blu-ray as the Film Society is wanting to give you all the best presentation possible.
