When: Saturday, August 26 at 8:00 pm Where: IAO Gallery, 706 W. Sheridan Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73012 Price: FREE (Donations to IAO Gallery are encouraged) VHSANDCHILL started in a garage with a wall of CRT TVs like you've seen in your favorite films from the 80's and 90's. It soon became a routine weekend get together with friends and strangers alike to escape reality for a bit to reminisce classic films and videos or uncover whatever new crazy VHS tapes I could get my hands on. We've embraced the analog and now it's time to share the fun with the rest of OKC. We're opening the night with W.D. Richter's 1984 science-fiction romantic adventure comedy classic The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. Peter Weller plays the titular hero Buckaroo Banzai. He's a brain surgeon, race car driver, scientist, rock star, and an actual comic book hero! He leads a team of rough and tumble compatriots called the Hong Kong Cavaliers, including our man Jeff as New Jersey, as they battle against John Lithgow as Lord John Whorfin and his evil aliens from another dimension - the Lectroids! Runtime: 103 minutes We'll follow that up with the 1988 screwball comedy Vibes! Jeff Goldblum is psychic Nick Deezy who can read the history of objects by touching them. He gets pulled into a mad quest for power with fellow psychic Cyndi Lauper as Sylvia Pickel. They must race against more psychics and assassins to the jungles of Ecuador where they will battle over an unstoppable force hiding within an ancient pyramid! 99 minutes We'll also have a food truck and a pay bar on location at the IAO Gallery in OKC's famous Film Row. The TV wall itself will be playing along with other video presentations celebrating some more of Jeff's classic film adventures. UPDATE: The Event was a success!! We all had a great time!! Follow VHSANDCHILL on social media and we'll tell you where Jeff is hanging out around OKC. Stop by, say hi and take a picture with the legend! Don't forget to #VHSANDCHILL.
