2-24-26 - VHSANDCHILL OKC Presents the FAREWELL TOUR 2026 @ BOOKISH

Picture

When: Tuesday, January 24th, 7:00pm
Where: BOOKISH, 1005 NW 36th st, OKC, OK

VHSANDCHILL OKC started in my garage in 2016. These shows grew and grew until I was doing them at various bars and venues across Oklahoma City. Over the last 10 years we have gotten into all kinds of fun movie shenanigans. Some say all good things come to an end, and it's time for me to move on to other things. VHSANDCHILL OKC will still be here but just not like it has been. I'll continue to host event screenings at The Oklahoma Film Exchange and I'll probably be popping up with booths and fun things here and there. So I'm not going anywhere, just getting into new shenanigans.

For this FAREWELL TOUR 2026, I'll be revisiting some of our favorite venues across town and having fun events! Retro Tape Swaps, big shows, little shows, but these screenings won't be themed or anything, but these will focus on films that are truly dear to my heart.

When this 1999 sci-fi comedy-drama film released I remember enjoying it, as I'm a big fan of Robin Williams. Though it was only later in life that this film took on a much deeper meaning for me. A lot of people haven't seen this film and I think it should be shared.

So I invite you to come out to BOOKISH, grab a comfy seat, some delicious coffee, and let's enjoy this well meaning adaptation of a story that has become synonymous with the rise in A.I. and what it really means to be human.

"One has studied your history. Terrible wars have been fought where millions have died for one idea, freedom. And it seems that something that means so much to so many people would be worth having." - Andrew Martin

This 1990 star studded film is one of the OG and best comic book adaptations ever. Starring Warren Beatty, Madonna, Al Pacino, Kathy Bates, Dick Van Dyke, Dustin Hoffman, William Forsythe, Paul Sorvino, James Caan, and freaking Catherine O'Hara! A movie that seemed ahead of it's time but also had a marketing campaign that would give a Star Wars movie a run for it's money. Very much in the vein of SIN CITY, this movie pulls you into the comics themselves and shows how it's done!

I invite you to join us at the 51st Street Speakeasy for this classic, crime caper straight out of the funny pages!

A delusional documentary filmmaker follows a mysterious Bigfoot tracker through the Oklahoma backwoods, where they encounter various quirky locals. The film mixes raunchy comedy with themes of fatherhood and belief in a fun, lighthearted style. This movie is so much fun as so many people that I love and respect were involved in the making of this 2022 film. Directed by Nick Sanford and starring Bradchad Porter, Alex Sanchez, Mickey Reece, and so many more wonderfully funny people!

So we invite you to come out to RODEO CINEMA, and enjoy this comedy gold with us! We'll have a filmmaker Q&A with the director and star Bradchad Porter after the film! Make sure to stock up on Corn Nuts. Bigfoot loves Corn Nuts.

"Last year, when I was crashing at my friend Keegan's house, on his couch, I accidentally ate a whole bag of marijuana Sour Patch Kids because I thought that they were normal, non-marijuana Sour Patch Kids, and at some point in the ensuing five hours, I purchased three spicy Popeye's chicken sandwiches and fed them, one after another, to Keegan's iguana. And -- and it died. Keegan asked me what happened afterwards, and uh... I told him it was an act of God. But we both know God would never act like that." - Jimmy

In early 2016 it all started with the dream of having an old school TV wall, the kind we all saw in our favorite 80's and 90's flicks. After a few trips to some local thrifts stores, I had more than enough old TVs and VCRs. It was about this time I came into a collection of a few thousand VHS tapes and not long after VHSANDCHILL nights were born. Every month or so we started showings of classic 80's and 90's movies. As these showings became more popular we began doing some theme showings and marathons. We enjoy watching these showings bring in people from every age group and all walks of life. VHS is dead. Long live VHS!
